I have been running a successful practice in the Stroud area since 2003, being very committed and passionate about my work my aim is to help you change your life for the better by making you aware of the healing, liberating and energising benefits of colonic hydrotherapy.

Personal Profile

I am a qualified and experienced health practitioner. In 1993 I trained with the Maitri Foundation and gained an APNT qualification in therapeutic massage and anatomy and physiology.

In 1996 I suffered a very bad skin disorder and tried everything to heal myself - nothing worked. I then discovered colonic hydrotherapy. I immediately recognised the connection between healthy eating, nutrition and regular cleansing of the colon in order to prevent toxic build up. The health of the colon truly affects the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of the person. It also motivates and energises you. So much so that I wanted to offer these benefits to others and I began my quest of training.

What to expect

Colonic irrigation consists of slowly introducing warm filtered water into the colon under low pressure, via a small tube. When the colon is filled, the water flows out through a larger tube, bringing with it any loose debris. This process is carried out a number of times during the treatment, which lasts for 30 to 40 minutes. The result is a gentle flushing of the colon, and loosening of old faecal matter.

Colinic Hydrotherapy

The benefits of colonic irrigation can often be quickly observed in the form of improved bowel function together with clearer skin, increased mental clarity and fewer headaches. Circulatory, immune, inflammatory and weight problems can also often improve with colonic treatments when accompanied by recommended diet and lifestyle changes. After treatment from our colonic therapists, the bowel is better able to absorb nutrients and less likely to absorb enterotoxins. Unlike enemas, it is not habit-forming. Herbal supplements may be prescribed to aid the elimination process.

It was used in UK hospitals until relatively recently when the cost became uneconomical in face of strong purgatives used before bowel procedures. The colonic treatment itself exercises and tones the bowel thus aiding the evacuation of waste both during and after treatment. The toxic load on the body is reduced. Colonic treatment is now used in the UK as a naturopathic modality and is particularly useful in treating:

  • Primary bowel conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and constipation where the bowel can be normalised through water temperature variation during treatment.

  • Some organic disease states such as diverticulosis where regular elimination is important. Bowel transit time is improved.

  • Many secondary conditions, especially those affecting the other eliminative organs (skin, urinary tract and lungs), where they are accompanied by poor bowel mechanics.

  • Body detoxification, when accompanied by dietary measures.
